This gothic style crematorium located within the grounds of Putney Vale cemetery has two chapels, although currently only one is in use.
It is surrounded by Putney Heath and Wimbledon Common. Easy access from the A3 from all parts of SW London.
What Putney Vale Crematorium offers
- Chapel: There are two chapels that can accommodate small, intimate groups or up to 80 mourners for larger gatherings. For larger groups, attendees may stand outside the chapel, with the doors left open, so that they can listen to the service or the East Chapel can be booked as an overflow chapel (if available) for an additional fee.
- Music: Music is organised using the Obitus system
- Visual tributes: TV screens available to display photos using the Obitus system
- Webcasting: Available if required.
- Ashes: Garden of remembrance available for scattering ashes.
- Accessibility: Wheelchair access is available.
TEMPORARY CHAPEL CLOSURES
Due to lift works, the following chapel closures will happen in 2026 at Putney Vale Crematorium:
West Chapel closed:
Monday 7 April 2026 to Tuesday 5 May 2026
Only the East Chapel will be available.
Services booked on the half hour from 10:30am to 3:30pm
Short services of 20 minutes available between 08:00 and 09:40
East Chapel closed:
Wednesday 6 May 2026 to Wednesday 3 June 2026
Only the West Chapel will be available.

How much does a cremation at Putney Vale Crematorium cost?
- Fees: Standard fee for a service (30 minutes of service time): £780
- Fee to extend service time by an additional 15 minutes: £49
- Fee to extend service time by an additional 60 minutes: £395
- Reduced rate for services before 10am: £385 (20 minutes of service time)
