Direct cremation – also advertised as Pure Cremation – is an unattended funeral.
We help families in London and Surrey who wish to organise a Direct Cremation – and prefer the services of a local independent funeral director.
Families typically choose direct cremation when wishing to keep the cremation separate from a commemoration service – or it has been an expressed wish by the relative who has died. This is becoming more common due to influential media advertising.

How we can help
The timeline for a direct cremation is typically 7 – 10 working days from you appointing us.
- We organise the collection and care of your relative and ensure a seamless process for the direct cremation
- You will know the date and time (not many direct cremation providers will provide this).
- Should you wish for any personal items to be placed in the coffin, we can sort this
- We use a local crematorium
As a local, visible independent funeral director you can take comfort in knowing who we are and where your relative will be cared for.
Just in case…
A direct cremation is strictly unattended. If this does not feel right for you please see our Low Cost Pre-10am Cremation which is a no fuss option designed for families who feel a direct cremation is too remote, but don’t want a full funeral service.
Wise advice
The last 12 months has seen a surge in price-led online direct cremation providers, we recommend you read this article researched and written by the Good Funeral Guide.
Ashes options
The ashes can be either:
- Scattered at the crematorium witnessed or un-witnessed (for direct cremations we use Kingston)
- Collected by you direct from the crematorium (within 14 days)
- We collect the ashes for you and will arrange a time for you to collect from our Teddington / Twickenham office (we can hold for up to 6 weeks)
- We can arrange a courier to deliver to your home at an additional cost
- If you wished to order a specific urn, we have choices you can see here
