At White Rose Modern Funerals, we have the privilege of supporting many wonderful local families through one of life’s most painful moments. For those who have lost a life partner, the world can suddenly feel very quiet, very different, and at times overwhelmingly lonely.
We know that the funeral itself is only the first step in a much longer journey. After the arrangements are complete and the practical tasks fall away, the days and weeks that follow can feel like unfamiliar territory. Adjusting to a new rhythm of life takes time – and it can feel daunting to navigate that on your own.
Having walked alongside hundreds of families across Richmond upon Thames and the surrounding areas, we felt there was more we could do to help people feel connected as they take those next steps. Often, families tell us that they wish they knew others going through something similar – someone to share a coffee with, someone who understands without needing an explanation.
So, we created our ‘Cup of Company’ mornings. Held every six weeks and offered exclusively to the families we have supported, these gatherings are gentle, friendly opportunities to meet others who are also finding their way through grief.
There is no agenda, no expectations – just a warm space to sit, chat, or simply be among people who understand. Over time, we’ve seen genuine companionships form across these mornings, and it’s been heartening to witness how meaningful even the simplest connection can be.
We hold our coffee mornings typically every 6 weeks by invitation at The Park Hotel in Teddington, from 10am to 12pm, with tea and coffee provided. You’re welcome to drop in for a few minutes or stay for the whole time – whatever feels right for you. It’s always lovely to see familiar faces and to reconnect with the families we’ve had the honour of supporting.
The format is completely informal. We’ll be there to greet you, make introductions if that feels helpful, and offer gentle support if you’re feeling unsure about coming along on your own.
Sometimes, a small moment of company can make a big difference. We hope you’ll join us whenever you feel ready.
